Membership Criteria and Procedure for Joining the BFA

Membership Criteria
- Manufacturer or Importer of Consumer Fireworks as defined in the 1997
Firework (Safety) Regulations.
- To have adequate licensed storage ( H & SE License ).
“Adequate” meaning to have sufficient capacity to store whatever
consignment of fireworks is arriving at the Company site.
- To provide evidence of licensed storage, either by a copy of the license,
or if the Company is a tenant on a licensed site, a copy of a legally
binding lease.
- To provide evidence of Public and Product Liability Insurance to a
minimum level of £5 million with ongoing evidence of renewal.
- To comply with the requirements of Classification and Authorisation.
- To agree to abide by all decisions taken by the Association, particularly
voluntary agreements.
Procedure for joining the BFA
Potential applicants who can fulfil the aforementioned criteria should
apply by letter, or application form when created, with evidence of
ability to comply.
A joining fee of £250.00 should accompany any application. If the
application is approved the annual subscription for the current year
01-04-2004 to 31-03-2005 is £700.
Approval of membership shall be made by vote and meeting the criteria
requirement shall not mean automatic acceptance.
